Mike Brooks Bamboo Fly Rods
Beauty
Fly fishing takes you to the most beautiful places on
earth.  Majestic mountains, crystal clear streams,
Ponderosa pines.  Not to mention the trout ~~ the
wonderful shades of red, brown, green, and gold.
Shouldn't your rod be as beautiful as the fish you are
pursuing? At Mike Brooks Bamboo Fly Rods, we
think so.  Mike takes the time, energy, and effort to
make sure that every rod that leaves his shop is as
beautiful as the fish it will be catching (and releasing
~~ we hope).

Tradition
Mike Brooks takes the time to build each one of his
classic bamboo fly rods one at a time ~~ by hand ~~
so that each rod that bears his name is not only a
practical fishing instrument, but a beautiful work of
art.  Mike offers a full line of time-proven classic
tapers.  From his Payne 100 to his Paul Young
Driggs River Special ~~ if you are looking for a rod
with the feel and flex of the classics contact Mike.
With his knowledge of the classic tapers, he will be
able to put the right rod in your hands for the
ultimate fishing experience.

Innovation
Even though Mike is connected to the great legends
of the bamboo world with his experience at the
famous Leonard Rod Company, he also is taking full
advantage of the modern materials to make bamboo
fly rods that will last a lifetime.  With a chemical
science background Mike has been able to take the
finish of a bamboo rod into the future.  Contact Mike
and ask about the benefits of his “Permacane”
impregnation process.  In addition to his work with
impregnation processes, varnishes, and finishes,
Mike is also constantly evaluating and improving
bamboo fly rod tapers.  From his own research done
on the McKenzie River in his own backyard, Mike
has produced his McKenzie series of tapers.
Starting with the midge rods (6’ - 6’6” ~~ 2,3, & 4
weights) to the powerhouse 8’ and 8’2” 5 weight
rods that are strong enough to cut through the wind
yet gentle enough to protect light tippets, there is a
rod in the McKenzie series for any trout fishing you
will encounter.
